3-Methoxyeticyclidine (3-MEO-PCE, 3-Methoxy-pce, Methoxieticyclidine) is a designer drug of the arylcyclohexylamine class, is an analog of PCE, having similar effects, capable of causing dissociative effects.
For the first time, the drug began to be sold as a research substance in 2012, as an alternative to PCE.
The chemical structure of 3-MeO-PCE includes a cyclohexane ring connected to an aromatic ring with an amine group, it also contains a phenyl ring with a methoxy substituent, where it is bound to a cyclohexane ring. An aminoethyl chain is connected to the cyclohexane ring. The difference between 3-MeO-PCE and MXE is that it lacks an R2-substituted ketone.
Studies in mice show that 3-Methoxyeticyclidine is an NMDA receptor antagonist, which explains its dissociative effect. Its effects can be compared with 3-MeO-PCP, but with more euphoric stimulation.
This drug has a more stimulating and less sedative effect, a dissipative effect and hallucinations occur at higher dosages.
The list of physical effects that the drug causes: stimulation, euphoria, changes in the feeling of heaviness, desire to move, lack of appetite, anesthesia, high blood pressure, visual effects, hallucinations.
The development of tolerance to the drug will occur with prolonged, regular intake. When taking the substance, tolerance decreases and it takes 1-2 weeks to return to the initial level.
This drug is a designer substance and its pharmacological and toxicological properties are not fully understood, it is intended for research and tests in specially equipped laboratories.
The legal status of this substance is not entirely clear and it may be allowed in many countries for research purposes, but this drug is banned in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Turkey.
