Description
Metonitazene is an analgesic opioid derived from benzimidazole, a structural analog of etonitazene and has a similar structure. Metonitazene was first synthesized in 1957. It has high opioid potency when administered intravenously, 100 times stronger than morphine; when administered orally, it is 10 times stronger than morphine. This drug can be compared to fentanyl. Metonitazene can be opioid dependent and in high doses can cause vomiting, pruritus, severe drop in arterial pressure, respiratory depression, death. This drug has never been used in medicine and is only sold as a designer drug for opioid potency testing in private labs.
