5-Bromo-DMT (5-Br-DMT) or 5-bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine is a psychedelic drug, a brominated analogue of DMT, or more specifically a brominated indole alkaloid first discovered in the sponges Smenospongia aurea, Smenospongia echina, and Verongula rigida.
5-Bromo-DMT acts on 5-HT2A receptors causing a decrease in motor activity, a moderate psychedelic effect at a dosage of 20-50 mg, as shown in rodent trials.
5-Bromo-DMT is a relatively new drug and its pharmacological and toxicological properties are not well understood and few data are available.
It is intended for research and testing in specially equipped laboratories.
5-Bromo-DMT is banned for sale in Singapore.
